Sanyo launches the Albo home network viewer

A digital frame with a little more to boot, the Sanyo Albo is also a ‘home network viewer’, as well as a place to display your treasured snaps.

Those retro looks are certainly are a plus (especially for lovers on vintage sci-fi), but there’s more to this than quirky design. For a start, this 7-inch LCD screen has both Wi-Fi and infrared connectivity, so you can access your online gallery as well as the photos on your mobile. And if you want to surprise your partner, you can also email an image of your good self to the frame from anywhere in the world.

Throw in an option to flip the screen, an RSS feed reader, music/video player and a card reader and the substance is certainly up there with the style. Sadly, there’s no point in adding this to your Christmas list, the Japanese launch next month is certainly well ahead of any European showing. And with a price of around £280, this is unlikely to be filing many stockings this year or next.
