Samsung unveils its Atom-based netbook

Not one to miss the boat altogether, Samsung is belatedly muscling in on the netbook market, launching its (so far) unnamed model at a Korean trade show.

And it’s not just the name under wraps, with Samsung studiously avoiding any specific detail about its new baby.

So what do we actually know?

Well, Samsung looks to be chasing MacBook lovers with its glossy white exterior and the 1.6GHz Atom processor and Wi-Fi is a given, but with the aid of a magnifying glass we can also pick out three USB ports, a webcam and VGA out.

Yes, we know that’s not much to go on, but we can second guess a lack of optical drive, varying amounts of Flash storage and Windows XP.

We might even be so bold as to pitch a sub-£300 price tag, but you’ll find that out for yourself in a matter of weeks - with a worldwide launch pencilled in for the end of October.
