Packard Bell announces ‘dot’ netbook, with 160GB storage

Only this week has the netbook market seen entries from the likes of Toshiba and Samsung, but now Packard Bell has thrown in its offering, the ‘dot’ 8.9-incher.
Looking much like the Aspire One, from its parent company Acer, the ‘dot’ measures 8.9-inches in size, with an 1024 x 600 resolution display. Inside the glossy case, lies an Intel Atom processor to power the Windows XP operating system, plus 1GB of RAM.
160GB of hard drive disk means the ‘dot’ is on the more generous end of the netbook scale, and even Packard Bell’s option of a 6-cell battery (at an as-yet undetermined price) bumps it ahead of other manufacturers’ offerings.
Built-in Wi-Fi, an integrated webcam, three USB ports and a 5-in-1 card reader finish off the ‘dot’, but for anyone truly interested in remote netbooking, the option to pop an integrated 3G card in is available.
UK pricing hasn’t been confirmed, however Packard Bell’s ‘dot’ should retail for 399 Euros when it launches in November.
