Hytek COLOSSO wristwatch with three-dimensional spinning globe

“COLOSSO is an extremely complicated watch,” states Hytek’s product page. It certainly isn’t kidding either. ‘Titanic’ might be another word I’d use to describe this time-keeping behemoth. COLOSSO is perhaps the ideal gift for the business executive who gets so bored in board meetings that he’s gone well beyond timing how long he can hold his breath and watching the second hand for microscopic imperfections that he needs something considerably more ambitious.

The Hytek COLOSSO sports - among a myriad of obscure dials and gauges - an entire, three-dimensional spinning globe reclining in a “crystal pustule”. We’ve no idea why you’d actually want a 12mm 3D globe inside your watch other than to entertain megalomaniacal daydreams, but Hytek enthusiastically explains that it can be set to local time or GMT. Riiiight.

The device also features hours, quarters and minutes repeaters, two cathedral timbres and 62 jewels. The case is transparent so you can always see the full extent of the engineering monstrosity attached to your wrist. And you’d want to be able to have a good ogle at the build quality - this big beauty costs a crippling $550,000.

The limited edition model will be available in rose gold and white gold. It looks like it would match those ornate limited edition Leatherman tools rather well, although we think we know which one we’d rather be stuck in a performance review with - the one you could use to whittle an emergency escape raft out of the desk; not the one with the teeny tiny globe.
