Google reigns as most popular search engine in UK, with 75.3% of market

Bit of a non-story, as everyone should know this already, however it’s always good to have COLD, HARD FACTS to confront your friends with next time they’re arguing Yahoo is bigger than Google down the local pub.

ComScore, the web analyst firm, has released a report claiming UK web-users made 3.9 billion searches in June 2008 alone, with 75.3% of them made via Google. Trailing behind the big Mountain View company, eBay had 5.5% of the search market, Yahoo had 4.3, and Microsoft had just 3.4%.

Hardly surprising, though we’re pleased we can finally bastardise the ol’ Zero Wing joke “all your base are belong to us” as “all your Googles are belong to us”.
