Apple is worth more than Google, reports claim

Ok we’ll admit that this probably isn’t going to directly affect your day in any real way, but news has filtered across the web that Apple as a company is worth $1.61 billion more than Google.

As it stands, Steve Jobs and the big A are currently swimming through $158.84 billion in shiny coins, whereas Google has searched their pockets (you see what we did there?) and come up with $157.23 billion.

So what does this all mean? We understand that it’s hard to think in terms of billions, because the average human being will never be in contact with a billion anything - unless we’re talking dust mites.

If that appeals to you, then Apple is 1.61 billion dust mites better off. If not, then here’s what it means in terms of what Jobs could go and buy with the money Google just doesn’t have.

$1.61 billion is about £858 million, which’ll bag Jobsy:

2,700,000 32GB iPod Touches

4,200,000 Asus Eee PCs

1,700,000,000 Yorkie Bars

Although why he’d want to is beyond us.
